Lansdowne Tournament Results
The first tournament on the Cape Town calendar was a great success, with 26 players competing in one section. The winner was our champion Lanre Oyekunle, who was unbeaten at 8 wins with the impressive margin of +1122! This has pushed his rating up by 8 points to 1971, within sniffing distance of the golden 2000…
Man of the match, I think we would all agree, goes to Jarrod Page, our rising star who came second with 6 wins +57, causing him to gain a whopping 68 rating points and the best rating mover prize! Jarrod is now rated at 1423 - not too shabby for someone who was rated 1226 in September last year!
Joy Palm also did very well, third with 6 wins +53, gaining 47 rating points to 1472.
Well done to Sasha Page and Kassy Cunningham for doing very well in their first tournament, with 4 and 2 wins respectively.
Lanre had the highest game score of 614, Pearl Seitz the high word score of 114 for “bequest”, and Eleanor Forbes the high non-7 word score of 88 for “squits”.
Thanks to the Lansdowne club for arranging such an enjoyable start to our Scrabble year!

Congratulations to Lanre - can anyone beat him ???? And well done to Jarrod for coming second (I hope you will be coming to Nationals in JHB in April). Indeed we JOburgers are ready to host as many CPT players who can come up for the Nationals and we look forward to making this a great weekend.
